Accepting Menel's offer of a handshake Rayne nodded to the warrior. Everyone had their weapons ready and Death had his summon active as well. The naga was an impressive bit of spell-casting, and she offered a nod to her companion for his efforts. Particularly with that bone armor it made for a nasty looking bit of work. LouCypher for all his rugged armor had a very nice looking bow, one that he caused to grow impressive blades of ice.

She didn't have anything so impressive, but at least it seemed like Menel didn't either, he just walked toward the dungeon and opened the door easily. He walked like he knew what he was doing, and she could appreciate that. In fact in her mind the only question mark was the man who had introduced himself as LouCypher. She couldn't decide if he was going to be a help or a hindrance here. Time would tell.

"Rayne, you want to pull rear guard, or me?"

Rayne glanced at the man who'd spoken to her and rolled her shoulder in a shrug as she drew her weapons from their holsters. Snick and Snack didn't make a whisper of sound as they came into her hands. "I'll take rear guard. I'm familiar with Death, and since we've worked together before it'll make it easier for me to be on his six." She gave LouCypher a friendly salute and moved toward the back as she'd suggested.

There wasn't much of a 'behind them' to watch just yet. Just the giant doors closing of their own volition. Just the same she kept her eyes peeled, watching the sides of the cavern and as they moved inside. There were plenty of places for monsters to hide, but she didn't see anything moving around just yet. Likely the monsters were slightly further inside than in the main room.

Death was happy to walk behind the short little guy with the cool frozen bow and in front of Rayne.  He had learned by this point that Rayne was a good person to have on your six.  The party followed Menel into the dungeon, his torch leading the way into the darkness.

The Dark Naga walked behind Menel, almost blocking all sight of him except for the swaying motion of her body giving brief glimpses of him and his torch every so often.  The sounds of Menel's feet echoing off of the dungeon floor were the only constant reminder that he was there sometimes.

The group continued on this way for another hundred or so feet when the Naga turned to the left and screeched; smashing her fist into the wall and pulling off what looked like a lizard.  It was larger than Lou but not as large as the rest of the party.  As the lizards body was ripped from the wall, it's color changed from matching the wall to becoming almost a seamless attachment to the Naga's hand.  The lizard like creature let out a loud piercing cry before the Naga ripped it's head off and ate both head and body.

"Hmm... Hopefully that wasn't a "Hey guys, the cavalry is here, come eat them!" kind of a cry from that thing." DeathIncarnate said in a hushed tone with a hint of a laugh to cover nervousness.  Stupid Naga. I could have drained that thing's soul, but noooo you were hungry.  "Hey, Tinkerbelle." Death said as the Naga turned to face him.  "Next time, kill it, don't eat it.  I need one of those."  It was at this point that..'Tinkerbelle' vomited the carcass onto the ground at Death's feet.  Parts of it had already been dissolved in the Naga's powerful stomach acids, other parts were covered in digestive juices and smelled worse than the Ahn'gorn Pits of Aer'thon.
"Not quite the desired outcome here..." Death trailed off while shaking his head in disbelief at the Naga.

Suddenly and unexpectedly the Naga that the player called Death Incarnate had summoned lashed out at the wall. Menel turned toward the sound immediately, drawing one of his swords like a flash of lightning. The commotion drew a scream from the thing that the naga had attacked. A creature that blended in smoothly to its surroundings, but the undead naga had been able to sense it somehow. A handy summon indeed. Menel had assumed that it was merely a physical summon, but it seemed that it had fine senses as well.

The monster died quickly in the summon's hands and Menel lifted his light to look further into the dungeon.
"Hmm... Hopefully that wasn't a "Hey guys, the cavalry is here, come eat them!" kind of a cry from that thing."

"That's exactly what I'm afraid of." Menel offered his words quietly, but loudly enough to be heard by their entire party. "Something that died that easily, there's sure to be more."

His word heralded the sound of more screeching from the back of the cave and Menel threw down his torch to draw his other sword. The swordsman took his stance, trying to catch sight of the monsters which were camouflaged against the dark rock above them.
"Watch out from above! They can attach to the ceiling!"

It was all the warning that anyone got before the creatures were suddenly attacking. They dropped down from the ceiling on top of Death's summon and Menel himself, attacking the front line fighters first. Menel didn't hesitate, moving to attack even though he couldn't see his foe. The first one hit his shoulder, so he attacked to his right, drawing a squeal of pain from the monster that led him to attack it again. Each attack that he performed led him to the monster that was standing there invisibly.

Walking behind the Naga was annoying.  Lou couldn't see anything but the shaking ass of a Naga.  After a while, Lou started counting the scales in her armour to keep his mind occupied.  He had reached about 42 when the Naga suddenly spun to her left, hand shooting out at the wall to pull back a lizard like creature which was promptly dispatched and eaten... then thrown up.    As the Naga vomited its...breakfast..? onto the ground at it's master's feet the warning came out.

Lou watched as the ceiling began to fall down on them.  His first reaction was to start moving out of the way till he saw that it was more of those critters falling down, ambushing them.  LouCypher's bow was up and firing in an instant.  Two arrows nocked and launched before the lizards had a chance to land.

"Menel, don't look up!"

The first arrow made it's way unerringly to one of the lizards that had fallen onto the Naga's head.  The other arrow flew straight and true through another lizard that was falling from the ceiling directly onto Menel's head.  The arrows carried their targets back against the wall, pinning them there, their carcasses returning back to their sickly pale white skin after death.

The Naga grabbed at another of the Lizards that had fallen onto her and bit it in half as another half dozen fell onto her, each sinking their sharp teeth and claws into the bone armour keeping her safe.  The sounds of bone on bone grated against Lou's ears.

From ahead of Rayne came the call of a warning and she immediately moved closer to Death, trying to act as cover for the mage. Thankfully the creatures attacking had the front line fighters to worry about, and there was LouCypher between Death and the front line. Even so however, she kept her eyes out on the ceiling above her, half expecting to find the things raining down on her and Death.

So far so good. Menel and the naga wouldn't fair well without support though, and so she looked for an opening that she could use to attack herself. The only problem was that she couldn't see the enemy. The creatures were so totally camouflaged that she couldn't decipher them from the rocks.

Lou seemed to have less trouble, his arrows taking out two of the creatures; picking moments when their camouflage was less active. Rayne took her notes from him, trying to hone in on the lizard-like monsters with her ears and from what she could see.

The one that Menel was fighting made an easy mark. The swordsman hit it, and it's blood marked it for one of her arrows. Rayne grinned as the lizard went down and quickly looked around for another target. Which was easier said than done. The monsters were only vaguely visible as they moved. The motion of the 'rock' against the rock gave their position away, but the flickering of the fire that was their light made any shot risky.

"Just stay close to me Death. There's a lot of them, but they go down easy."

Death had barely finished speaking when everyone said something at nearly the same time, warning of more of these creatures.  He had just barely even registered what was going on when he heard the whizz of an object fly by his head, missing him by centimeters.  The other arrow that Lou fired was in the other direction, directly above Menel's head.
This archer was nice to have on the team!

"Just stay close to me Death. There's a lot of them, but they go down easy."

"Will do!  Can you even see them?!"

Death had learned that staying close to Rayne was his best bet of avoiding danger, so he took up a stance next to her and held his cane out, peering into the darkness, trying to identify any of these creatures that he couldn't see.

Tinkerbelle was the main focus of these creatures, as she had killed one of their kind, unprovoked.  The creatures fell from the ceiling onto her; biting and scratching their way into her flesh through the Bone Armour spell.  While these creatures might die really easily, they apparently could cause a lot of damage quickly because in chunks, you could watch Tinkerbelle's armour begin to flake away from the incessant myriad of attacks by these things.
She fought like a mad cat, her tail swishing this way and that; flying just over LouCypher's head and smacking into another squishy thud on the wall as she reached to her face to pull off one of the lizards to eat it.
"snarflgrrrggle!!"  When the lizard was detached, a large chunk of Tinkerbelle's face went along with it.  It made for quite a sight to see the lizard turn into the rest of Tinkerbelle's face while in her hand. "GlarggglllllggrgrglglrSNARglgler!!!"  She used her other hand to grab one that was trying to burrow into her side where another one had torn the armour off and yet another had bit a hole into her.  They were working in concert to take down the thing that killed their kin.
Tinkerbelle seemed to have a Blind Fight type of ability that Death didn't even know she had to be able to keep killing these things that he couldn't even see!  Marveling at her ability to kill so well, Death noticed that a chunk of her Bone Armour disappeared for just a moment, reappeared, looked like a big hole in her side, then back to bone armour, then the bone armour seemed to be slipping inside of itself at that point.

"Rayne is that one of them..?" Death asked inquisitively with some alarm in his voice as he pointed to where Tinkerbelle had a hold of a mass of bone armour on her side.

Attacking blindly wasn't something that Menel enjoyed, in fact he hated it. However when push came to shove the swordsman had a lot of experience with fighting. In real life, and in this game and he well knew how to use his other senses in order to adapt to the fact that one wasn't working as well as he might have liked. The real problem was quickly becoming the sheer number of the creatures. They were overrunning Death's summon, taking hunks of its bone armor off with their attacks, and worse besides. He was fairing somewhat better with his quick reflexes and armor that was light enough not to get in his way.

That being said, he was taking a few hits himself, and without a healer in the party, he knew he couldn't keep it up forever.

Thinking quick, he looked over the screeching, half-invisible monsters for some sign of one that might be in charge.
"Look for their leader! If we kill it, the rest might scatter!"

It was their best hope at this point, particularly if one of their ranged fighters could take it out. He and Death's summon were quickly becoming too boxed in to be able to easily disengage from the fight. Menel's swords swung in a dizzying array of attacks, a thrum of metal singing through the air as he did his best to keep the monsters at bay.

Lou watched as more and more of these little demon lizards fell to the ground, killed in one fashion or another by his compatriots.  The sound of grating teeth on bone, be it the armour or the bone beneath Tinkerbelle's flesh, was less than appreciated in the ears.  The flash and ring of Menel's swords were music to his ears, however.  Between dodging Tinkerbelle's tail, avoiding lizards, and not shooting his teammates, Lou was able to glimpse Menel's flawless form.  Every movement was purposeful, as though in a ballet... a very deadly ballet.
Lou watched Menel dispatch another one quite gruesomely; possibly striking an artery.  The blood spray went out in an arcing pattern, marking another 10-15 lizards crawling their way over to them.  Lou was brought back to his senses from a voice behind him:

"Rayne is that one of them?"
Lou didn't bother to turn around.  He had more than enough to concentrate on already.  If it weren't for this mage and his Naga... Lou would go so far as to call him worthless on the team.  He can't kill them, he can't see them, and looks pretty weak if he got attacked.  Lou hoped that maybe DeathIncarnate had something else up his sleeve to help the party with.  That summon seemed to take everything out of him and it was already almost dead.
Taking aim at a few more of the marked ones, thanks to Menel, Lou knocked an arrow and was about to loose it when Menel shouted an instruction:

"Look for their leader! If we kill it, the rest might scatter!"

"How are we supposed to know..."

The rest of Lou's words were drowned out by the sound of a roaring screech that nearly deafened all in the corridor.

From further down in the cave, Lou could faintly see the darkness blurring a little here, then not, then blurred again, then not.  He took that to be the shape of another hidden monster lumbering side to side as it drew closer to them.
He fired two of his magical missiles from his bow into the darkness and watched them stick in mid air; now moving in the same fashion as the rest of the darkness.  Lou laughed involuntarily and yelled:

"I GAVE IT EYES!"

From Rayne's pessimistic perspective, they were quickly being overrun. It was a matter of sheer numbers and the fact that the creatures were mostly invisible hardly helped matters. Irritably she shot one which was climbing up Tinkerbelle's side, and grinned viciously when it went down immediately. That was one thing at least. These things didn't have a lot in the way of hit points.

Also to their advantage was the fact that Tinkerbelle and Menel were holding the front line impeccably. Between the two of them none of the monsters had really broken through save a few that had dropped down from the ceiling, and those had been easy enough to deal with in the initial rush.

"Rayne is that one of them..?" Death pointed to his summon in confusion and Rayne tilted her head at the odd sight. It almost looked like a glitch of some kind, but given that the things were half-invisible it was more likely that it was just an optical illusion.

"I got it." She replied determinedly; moving across the intervening space to get a better shot at the creature that seemed to be working its way inside of Death's summon. Ahead of her, Menel yelled out that they needed to locate the leaded of the creatures, but she didn't have the time to try and pick out one invisible monster amid them all. Instead she shot the one she had in her sights, and nodded solemnly to herself when its corpse fell to the ground. One less for Tinkerbelle to deal with.

The poor summon was looking terrible, and as she glanced across the battlefield to where Menel was, she could see that while he was fairing slightly better, he would be in real trouble if they didn't do something soon. Particularly given that this was just the first room of the dungeon.

"I GAVE IT EYES!" Lou's words broke out over the combat, distracting Rayne from her thoughts and she looked around to see what he was talking about. There, a lumbering half-invisible figure that... did look like it had glowing eyes. Drawing a bead on the monster, Rayne trained in on it. She'd take the best shot she could, and hopefully take it down before it reached the front lines.
